[color=#000000ost_uid0]I don't know how many ppl on this Forum have heard of
[bost_uid0]Penny Arcade[/bost_uid0] or even if any of you read it, but [bost_uid0]Zeke[/bost_uid0]
told me about it a while ago and I check out the web-
site almost every day. Here's a sample of what [bost_uid0]Tycho[/bost_uid0]
had to say today about [bost_uid0]Star Trek[/bost_uid0] and the companies
that own it.

[bost_uid0][iost_uid0]Star Trek has its own "Quality Continuum" divorced from the metrics we might apply to other forms of entertainment. It must, because the alternative is too grim, admitting that Star Trek is the sort of desiccated husk an alien creature might discard. [/iost_uid0][/bost_uid0]

When [bost_uid0]Tycho[/bost_uid0] speaks, he's usually very eloquent. So bring a
[bost_uid0]Thesaursus & a Dictionary[/bost_uid0] to the table when you need to
listen to him.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I'm a PA reader, and actually working with Tycho on something.

The comic with it was HILARIOUS. [/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Umm, isn't that actually an insult to Star Trek?[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I read it as more an insult to the PTBs.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I think Arzo means the bit Mat quoted from the newspost. That, indeed, [iost_uid0]is[/iost_uid0] an insult to Trek itself rather than the PTBs.[/colorost_uid0]

He's pretentious, is what he is. I'm guessing he's an Arts major, probably Philosophy.[/colorost_uid0]

Hmmm... I always figured that [bost_uid0]Tycho[/bost_uid0] was a normal
guy who pplayed nothing but video games and surf
the Net [bost_uid0][iost_uid0]ALLLLL[/iost_uid0][/bost_uid0] day long. He writes some really good
reviews for games & movies that've influenced me in
the past, but I don't always agree w.what he says.
I'll admit thay there've been some times when I didn't
even think the PA comics were funny, but I still went
back and checked 'em out the next day. The forum
over there is kinda interesting too... unless you're a
Newb. (They also have PA in Spanish somewhere, but
I forgot the specific URL.)[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Oddly, this is only the second Trek-themed strip PA has done, not counting a couple involving [iost_uid0]Elite Force[/iost_uid0] in a not-specifically-Trek way. I think this one is still the funnier of the two.[/colorost_uid0]

There was another one where Gabe took over flying an
airplane and he made a reference to Trek in it: [bost_uid0]HERE[/bost_uid0]

And there's been many [bost_uid0]Star Wars[/bost_uid0] references in the
PA comic, but my favorite one has to be [bost_uid0]THIS.[/bost_uid0]

It's too bad they never did a [bost_uid0]Farscape[/bost_uid0] reference, although
they did refer to the fact that Gabe takes [bost_uid0]horse steroids.[/bost_uid0][/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I like to think of myself as a pretty well-versed Scaper, but I have no idea what you're talking about. What does [iost_uid0]Farscape[/iost_uid0] have to do with horse steroids?[/colorost_uid0]

Absolutely nothing whatsoever. I just really like the
way that Tycho (and Gabe) are drawn in that par-
ticular PA comic & wanted to share it w/you all.

BTW, did you see the PA sketch that featured Wil
Wheaton in it? No! Then go [bost_uid0]HERE[/bost_uid0] & check it out.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Heh. Reminds me of certain folks in the Trek forums at TBBS who get that (digital) fanatic gleam in their eyes when speaking of "Gene Roddenberry's Vision™" in reverent tones.[/colorost_uid0]
